Salt Suites Paros, first chapter in an intimate island collection

Fifteen years in the making, Salt Suites Paros is no ordinary hotel but a quietly luxurious hideaway, poised between the Aegean Sea and a cocoon of stillness. Sheltered from the bustle of Naoussa, it reveals a discreet private beach, architecture perfectly attuned to Cycladic light, and a rare kind of hospitality infused with a deeply Greek spirit. Here, luxury is something you feel rather than show. And from the very first moments, you sense that every hour spent here will linger on as an unforgettable memory.

Salt Suites, a dream 15 years in the making

Every hotel has a backstory. The one behind Salt Suites Paros may unfold on the island of Paros, but its roots lie somewhere in Crete. The first thing that strikes you on arrival is the warm, unmistakably personal welcome from Michalis, who runs the hotel with a rare kind of care and attention to his guests’ happiness. The story of Michalis and Mr Karantinos, the owner, is unusual, and their enthusiasm contagious. It begins in Crete, with remarkable family, friendship and business adventures, shared today in animated conversations over Greek meze.

That’s when they modestly recount their successful ventures, their first hotels and restaurants in Crete, and then a search lasting almost fifteen years to find the right place to launch a new chapter: a hotel collection. The moment they set foot on this small bay to the east of Naoussa, they knew they had found it. Salt in the air, the sea at their feet, that island light… everything was there.

Salt Suites Paros is not a first attempt but a fresh chapter, almost a rebirth. In April 2025, the hotel quietly opened its doors to the families of those who built it, to test, refine and fully experience the place before welcoming any paying guests. A few weeks later, the first travellers from Australia, France, Greece and the United States walked across the sand of its private beach. They all left changed.

Naoussa and the understated allure of Paros and Antiparos

Choosing Salt Suites Paros also means choosing an island: Paros, a discreet Cycladic beauty, far from the sometimes over-the-top buzz of Santorini or Mykonos. Set on the edge of Naoussa, a short stroll from its charming fishing harbour turned boho-chic village, the hotel sits in a quieter pocket, slightly set back, overlooking a small bay to the east of town. This location gives it a rare sense of calm while keeping you close to everything.

Paros offers a wide variety of landscapes and an authenticity that appeal as much to those content to laze by the sea as to travellers hungry for discovery. Just a few kilometres away, often explored by quad or scooter, villages seemingly frozen in time appear, where whitewashed houses contrast with the deep blue of shutters and church domes. Windmills, hilltop monasteries, tracks lined with olive trees: Paros invites you to slow down.

And then there is Antiparos. Separated by a narrow stretch of water, this smaller island is reached by ferry from the port of Pounta. There, the scenery becomes even more raw and mineral. Often deserted beaches reveal a turquoise sea of almost unreal clarity. It is paradise for those who love quiet swims and solitary hikes. Much like the Domaine de Pellegrin in Bormes-les-Mimosas, Salt Suites Paros embodies a quest for low-key luxury, in tune with its unspoilt surroundings.

A shoreline retreat shaped by nature

Salt Suites Paros charms first with its considered simplicity. There is nothing showy here. The architecture follows the natural curves of the land, and the colour palette — off-white, sandy beige, soft blush — blends into the tones of the adjoining beach. This is a place designed for rest, for breathing deeply, for that rare feeling of being “at home” within minutes of arriving.

The central pool is edged with exotic plants and handwoven loungers. The materials — raw wood, linen, local stone — tell a story of connection to place and respect for the environment. Each suite is different and opens onto a private terrace with sea views. The furniture is both pared-back and warm, with handcrafted touches that echo local skills.

Every element seems calibrated for relaxation: linen curtains moving gently in the breeze, soft indirect lighting at night, high-quality bedding. But it is the quiet that stands out most. Only cicadas and the soft lapping of the sea interrupt the stillness. Salt Suites Paros offers a sensory refuge, where you disconnect from the noise to reconnect with what matters.

A deeply human experience shaped by Greek hospitality

Michalis is the soul of Salt Suites Paros. From the moment you arrive, he welcomes you as a personal guest. It is more than a simple check-in: it is a real conversation, a chance to understand who you are and how you’d like to spend your time, an invitation to feel expected. He remembers names, preferences, desires. He suggests routes to explore, books tables at tucked-away tavernas, arranges a boat trip if the wind allows.

This warmth, quintessentially Greek, runs through the entire team. The staff are attentive, seemingly driven by a shared mission: to turn every stay into an unforgettable interlude. Children are greeted with genuine kindness, couples find space and privacy, solo travellers find peace. It is this almost instinctive, invisible skill that sets the place apart.

Salt Suites Paros is not an anonymous resort; it is a place inhabited in every sense. Each team member contributed to its launch, and their personal investment is felt in every interaction. This approach gives each stay a distinctive flavour. You leave with more than a tan: you carry away a memory of genuine human warmth.

Greek flavours and seaside culinary plans

Food is central to life at Salt Suites Paros. Each morning, breakfast is served on the terrace facing the sea, featuring a selection of local produce: Greek yogurt, thyme honey, island cheeses, still-warm bread, fruit heavy with sunshine.

And that is only the beginning. From 2026, a true beach restaurant will open. Its menu will weave together Cycladic traditions and contemporary Mediterranean influences. This culinary project, already taking shape, promises to make Salt Suites Paros a gastronomic destination in its own right — an adventure within the adventure.

A promising future for a budding island collection

Salt Suites Paros has not yet celebrated its first birthday, but its future is already taking shape with ambition. Building on its immediate success, the hotel plans to expand as early as next year. The number of suites is set to double, while preserving the intimacy and attentive service that define it.

The vision goes further still. The team is already planning a genuine collection of hotels, all on Greek or Cretan islands, each with its own personality but united by the same values: authenticity, respect for place, thoughtful service. The next location remains under wraps, but word is it will be on an island even more low-key than Paros.

This plan echoes other successful projects we have followed, where each property becomes a full immersion in a specific local culture. Salt Suites Paros sits firmly in this idea of a nuanced collection, where every address is a promise of something out of the ordinary. It is no longer just a hotel: it is the beginning of a way of travelling, in step with the islands.
